Miami-Dade Public Library appoints Kimberly Matthews as the new Assistant Director for the Library Department

(Miami, FL – September 28, 2015) The Miami-Dade Public Library System has appointed Kimberly Matthews as the new Assistant Director for the Library Department. Ms. Matthews brings more than 20 years of combined library public service, education and consulting experience to the Miami‑Dade County Public Library System. She will be assuming oversight of the department’s public service operations, collection development and marketing functions.

Previously Ms. Matthews served as Executive Director of the Trenton Free Public Library for the past 7 years where she directed all aspects of library services. Prior to this, Ms. Matthews was Manager of Technical Services and Manager of the Chapman Branch at Salt Lake City Public Library. Ms. Matthews was also an Assistant Professor and Head of Library User Education & Database Searching at Washington State University Library’s Owen Science and Engineering Library. Ms. Matthews holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Phoenix, a master’s degree in library science and information management from Emporia State University, and a bachelor’s degree in English literature from the University of Kansas.
