Spend Your Spring Break in the STEAM Zone with Miami‑Dade Public Library System

– Children and Teens create and explore through five interactive workshops –

(Miami, FL – February 25, 2015) The Miami‑Dade Public Library System (MDPLS) is pleased to announce five interactive STEAM workshops designed to give children and teens the power to create, learn and share during spring break week. During this Storytelling Miami event, children, ages 8‑12 and teens, ages 13‑17, who wish to try their hand at coding, robotics, engineering, video‑making or journaling are asked to visit one of the branches hosting the events or visit the library’s website to download the registration form. The five spring break STEAM Zone topics will be:

Coding and Robotics
Children, ages 8‑12 will enjoy an in‑depth afternoon of programming and building robots.

Mechanical Engineering
Children, ages 8‑12 will learn how to tackle modern problems by spending a day in the life of a mechanical engineer.

Bookmaking and Journaling
Children, ages 8‑12 will create their own book and fill it with their thoughts and stories.

Robotics with Lego Mindstorms
Teens, ages 13‑17 will enjoy an in‑depth afternoon of programming and building robots.

Let’s Make a Video
Teens, ages 13‑17 will enjoy a video production workshop and learn some film‑making and editing skills.

All workshops will take place from 1 ‑ 5 p.m.

Participants are asked to please complete the registration form and return it to the branch hosting their desired STEAM Zone workshop.
