Miami‑Dade Public Library System Introduces Treehouse, Free Online Courses in Software Development and Coding

(Miami, FL – February 2, 2015) The Miami‑Dade Public Library (MDPLS) is pleased to announce the launch of a new service for all resident library card holders. MDPLS has partnered with Treehouse Island, Inc., a company specializing in online, interactive coursework that offers free technology training for individuals of all ages. Library card holders will have free, 24/7 access to Treehouse content which includes topics like, “How to build iPhone or Android apps,” creating interactive websites and extensive coursework in business development.

Treehouse resources offered by (MDPLS) include over 1,000 free video courses taught by experts in their fields of study. Students are able to progress through Treehouse courses at their own pace. To help reinforce new concepts and skills, students can access quizzes and interactive activities that are built into each of the courses. Through the library’s website customers can access Treehouse via their personal computer or by downloading the Treehouse app to their personal devices.

You never know, it may be a Miami‑Dade resident that creates the next big app using our Treehouse resource.”
