Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Miami-Dade Public Library System’s new Hialeah Gardens Branch Library to be held on Friday, August 10

Computer Rendering of Future Hialeah Gardens Branch Library

(Miami, FL – August 3, 2018) Construction is set to begin on the new Hialeah Gardens Branch Library of the Miami‑Dade Public Library System. On behalf of Miami‑Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez, District 12 Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz and the Board of County Commissioners, we invite the public to join us for a groundbreaking ceremony marking the occasion on Friday, August 10 at 10 a.m. at Westland Gardens Park, 13501 NW 107 Avenue.

The new, approximately 13,500‑square‑foot library will replace the existing storefront location and will include amenities such as a café, an outdoor covered seating area, a community multi‑purpose room, a digital media center, flexible interior spaces, and seating areas and spaces that allow for a wide range of activities and uses.

Commissioner Diaz sponsored the resolution, which was approved by the Miami‑Dade Board of County Commissioners last month, awarding the design‑build services contract for the project to the team of State Contracting & Engineering Corporation and Silva Architects.

The new library is expected to be completed in 2020.
