Get a Library Card
Start borrowing books, DVDs, eBooks and more today with a library card, FREE to residents of the Miami‑Dade Public Library System’s taxing district.
Borrowing
Cardholders can borrow books, DVDs, audiobooks, CDs, graphic novels and video games and download eBooks, audiobooks, magazines and music.
Fines & Fees
Fines and fees are charged to cardholders for items returned late, lost or damaged items, unclaimed holds, and filled Interlibrary Loan requests.
Computers & Internet
With a library card, patrons are able to use library desktop computers and laptops equipped with Internet access, Microsoft Office 2010 and printer access.
Mobile Apps
The Library offers mobile apps for free! Manage your account, search the catalog, download and read eBooks, download music, and read the latest magazines.
Assistive Services & Technology
MDPLS provides resources that help individuals with a visual, physical, hearing or speech disability access library materials, equipment and services.

Homework Help & Tutoring Program
Certified teachers are available to meet with small groups of students grades K‑12 at the library to provide free homework help and tutoring in reading, math and science.
InterLibrary Loan
Library cardholders can request books, articles and audiovisual materials not part of the Library’s collection from a vast network of libraries.
Suggestions for Purchase
Recommend books, DVDs, eBooks and other materials for the Library to purchase.
Mobile Library
The mobile libraries make scheduled stops each week throughout Miami‑Dade County, bringing books, DVDs, music and audiobooks to the community.
Museum Pass
The Museum Pass program provides patrons free entry for a family of four to local museums and parks.
Connections: For the Homebound
Connections loans library materials by mail to individuals who are unable to visit the library in person due to disabilities or conditions of aging.
Talking Books & Braille
The Talking Books Library loans audio and Braille books by mail to persons who have difficulty reading because of blindness, or visual, physical or reading disabilities.
Storytime Express: Early Literacy Kits
Jump Start is an early literacy service that offers storytime experiences for babies, toddlers and preschoolers outside of the library.
Project L.E.A.D. Adult Literacy
Project L.E.A.D. (Literacy for Every Adult in Dade) is an adult literacy program designed to assist English‑speaking adults with low literacy skills.
U.S. Passport Services
The South Dade Regional Library is an official Passport Application Acceptance Facility for the U.S. Department of State.
